Hunyuan3D 2 Mini is a lightweight generative 3D model developed by Tencent, released as an efficient alternative within the Hunyuan3D 2.0 ecosystem. It is designed to transform single-view images, sketches, or text descriptions into high-resolution 3D assets. The "Mini" variant is specifically optimized for resource-constrained environments, featuring a reduced parameter count that allows it to operate on consumer-grade hardware with approximately 5GB to 6GB of VRAM.

The model utilizes a two-stage generation pipeline to decouple the challenges of shape and texture synthesis. In the first stage, a flow-based diffusion transformer (Hunyuan3D-DiT) with 0.6 billion parameters generates an untextured geometric mesh. This stage focuses on architectural accuracy and alignment with the input condition. The second stage utilizes Hunyuan3D-Paint to apply high-fidelity texture maps, supporting PBR (Physically Based Rendering) materials to ensure consistent lighting and realistic material properties.

Despite its compact size, Hunyuan3D 2 Mini maintains competitive performance in geometric precision and topology. It can produce 3D models in roughly 10 to 25 seconds, making it suitable for rapid prototyping in game development, virtual reality, and digital content creation. The model is part of a larger family that includes "Turbo" versions, which leverage the FlashVDM framework for even faster inference speeds.
