FLUX.1 Krea [dev] is an open-weights image generation model developed through a collaboration between Black Forest Labs and Krea AI. It is described as an "opinionated" version of the FLUX.1 [dev] architecture, specifically engineered to reduce common generative artifacts like oversaturation and the distinct "AI look." As the open-weights iteration of Krea 1, it focuses on achieving superior photorealism and a more natural aesthetic compared to standard base models.
The model is built on a 12 billion parameter rectified flow transformer and is fully compatible with the existing FLUX.1 [dev] ecosystem. It was developed using supervised fine-tuning (SFT) on a curated dataset of high-aesthetic images, supplemented by synthetic samples to stabilize performance. A custom preference optimization technique, referred to as TPO, was further applied to refine stylization and ensure diverse, high-quality visual outputs that better align with human aesthetic preferences.
In practical use, the model serves as a drop-in replacement for the original FLUX.1 [dev], maintaining compatibility with LoRAs and standard sampling workflows. It excels at complex prompt following while offering improved anatomical accuracy and skin detail. The weights are available under the FLUX.1 [dev] Non-Commercial License, supporting third-party research and non-commercial creative development.
