Krea 2 Medium Turbo

Krea 2 Medium Turbo is a high-speed image generation model developed by Krea as part of the Krea 2 foundation model family. Designed for low-latency creative workflows, it is capable of generating high-resolution images in approximately two seconds. This variant is a distilled version of the Krea 2 Medium architecture, optimized to achieve high visual fidelity in only eight sampling steps, making it significantly faster than non-distilled diffusion models.

The model is built on a 12-billion-parameter Diffusion Transformer (DiT) architecture. Unlike many contemporary models, Krea 2 was trained from scratch without the use of synthetic data in its pre-training phase, an approach intended to provide a more natural aesthetic and avoid generic visual patterns. The architecture features an optimized parameter allocation, replacing certain traditional MLP blocks with adjustable bias terms to maximize capacity within the attention layers.

Capabilities and Features

Krea 2 Medium Turbo is particularly effective for expressive illustrations, graphic design, and concept art. It supports advanced creative controls such as style references (Srefs), allowing users to guide the model's output using up to four reference images. It also integrates with moodboard-based workflows, where it can interpret a collection of dozens of images to steer the overall artistic direction. While it maintains a focus on speed, it remains compatible with LoRAs and specialized generative sliders for fine-tuning attributes like complexity and movement.

Prompting and Best Practices

For optimal results, users should provide descriptive yet focused prompts. The model is highly responsive to specific artistic modifiers and lighting descriptions, such as "chiaroscuro," "cinematic lighting," or specific art styles like "risograph" or "oil painting." Because it is a turbo-distilled model, it is often used for rapid iteration and prompt testing. For final production pieces requiring the highest level of raw texture or photorealism, Krea recommends utilizing the Turbo model to find a visual direction before moving to the non-distilled Medium or Large variants.
