MAI-Image-2.5-Pro is Microsoft's flagship image generation and editing model, released in July 2026 by the Microsoft AI Superintelligence team. Positioned as the highest-fidelity variant within the MAI-Image 2.5 family, it is designed for production-grade creative workflows where visual quality, control, and accuracy are paramount. The model is integrated into the Microsoft Foundry and Azure AI ecosystems, powering generative experiences across the Microsoft product suite, including Bing, PowerPoint, and Dynamics 365.

A defining feature of the model is its ability to render precise, legible typography within generated images, facilitating the creation of branding visuals, posters, and product labels. It utilizes a unified architecture that natively supports both text-to-image generation and instruction-guided image editing. This capability allows for surgical alterations—such as replacing specific objects, updating in-image text, or adjusting lighting—while maintaining the structural integrity, facial identities, and spatial reasoning of the original composition.

Built on a diffusion-based generative approach, MAI-Image-2.5-Pro was trained on clean, traceable, enterprise-grade data without distillation from third-party models. It supports high-fidelity outputs with a maximum resolution of approximately one megapixel (e.g., 1024x1024 pixels) and handles complex prompts through a context window of up to 32,000 tokens.
