Amazon Nova Micro is a text-only large language model designed for high-speed performance and cost efficiency. Launched in December 2024 as part of the Amazon Nova foundation model family, it is the most compact model in the suite, specifically engineered for low-latency responses in simple reasoning and text-processing tasks.
The model supports a context window of 128,000 tokens and provides multi-lingual support for over 200 languages. It is primarily utilized for high-volume, straightforward applications such as text summarization, data extraction, content classification, and basic brainstorming or chat interfaces.
Amazon developed Nova Micro to offer competitive price-performance against other small-scale models. It is frequently deployed in retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems and agentic workflows where rapid processing of text-based prompts is a priority over complex multimodal reasoning.
